A good place to start with Gun control is to store guns properly in the home in a locked gun cabinet. The next is to teach anyone handling guns the rules of handling and safe storage. Leaving guns lying around, means the adults are negligent and need to be accountable, as to why a child was able to gain access to a gun and use it on someone. Thats the difference between those who know how to handle guns and amateurs.

This is not about gun control. That boy would have bashed her head in with a baseball bat if no gun was available or would have used a butcher knife. The problem is that this boy is disturbed and acted out violently.

True, there are many ways to murder. If there are no guns, there are knives. If there are no knives, he could use poison or a shard of glass. The fact that he decided to use a gun does not mean that guns are evil; he showed himself to be irresponsible with guns, but I think he would be old enough to learn about shooting and gun safety if he were mature enough in the head.

I think there are many issues at play here, gun control, violence, etc...I did not start this thread for all to bash the boy and what not, but to draw attention to the issues, so if we could all keep that in mind.

Well, there's a back story that's not even known. I would not dare to presume. Which is why I'd like to point to my first post about praying for all involved, especially the boy.

I shudder to think what would have happened at Columbine and others had they *not* had guns, and had used poison . . .
