I found Holy Dormition in Ormond Beach on the www.masstimes.org [ masstimes.org] website. It must be a small parish which doesn't have a resident pastor because it shows a 2:30 p.m. Divine Liturgy. I think it is served by the Orlando pastor http://orlandobyzantine.com/

Cmoore, The parish in Ormond Beach is Ruthenian. I don't it has a website at present; it's served from St Nicholas in Orlando. Holy Dormition Byzantine (Ruthenian) Church 17 Buckskin Ln., Ormond Beach, FL 32174 Phone: 386-677-8704 Liturgy: Sunday 2:30pm The parish in Apopka is Ukrainian. St Mary, Protectress Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church 245 Lake McCoy Dr, Apopka, Florida 32712 Phone: 407-880-1640 Liturgy: Saturday Vigil (English) 5:00pm Sunday (Ukrainian) 11:00am http://home.catholicweb.com/StMaryApopka/You can see the other Ukrainian parishes in FL here [stjosaphateparchy.org] and the other Ruthenian parishes here [eparchyofpassaic.com]There is also a Melkite parish in Miami and a mission in Del Ray, but neither has a website at present. The Maronite parishes in FL can be viewed here [stmaron.org]Don't rely on any times listed above or on eparchial or parish websites, and especially not those listed on masstimes or parishesonline - always call in advance, especially during seasons such as Lent. Thanks, I have the info for the Ukrainian parish. I will call. I think that is where I will bring my children for Passion Sunday either in English or Ukrainian. My grandparents were from the Ukraine. I may also check out the one in Ormond and the only info I didn;t have were the time and the Orlando page given. Thanks again for all the help.
Also if anything comes accross as me not being grateful for the gifts of the Holy Spirit you would be wrong. If I could run to the mountains or a cave and be a hermit I would but instead I must work, study, and raise a family while I minister to those that don't know the Lord. I have to do this with out words in most cases. People don't want to hear it. No one wants to be preached to outside of a church. They know I am studying and they know how much I love the Lord. Hopefully my example will lead them home. Why me? I ask especially since I am no one special. I am a sinner. We are told the Lord chooses the least likley. This would be true in my case.

"to be?" You do mean more than just exist correct? To be a good example /follower of Christ. That is what you mean by "to be" correct? That is what I meant by leading by example. I am not the best example wich is what is so ironic. All of you are probably much better examples. I am just doing what has been asked of me and so far it was to study. Thanks for the prayers.

I want to thank everyone for all of your help here on the forum. I have learned a lot in just a couple of weeks. I am ready to start my paper. My brother asked me what I was going to do with all this research I am doing? I said "I don't know." All I can say is the pieces are fitting together nicely. I am not leaving but if I have other questions I will post them here. Please feel free to send me anything that you think will be useful to me. I have two papers to write and one is for World Religion and the other is for my local diocese. Originally I was going to write about abortion for World Religion but the teacher has heard me defend my pro life position many times in our on line class. I told him that I want to write about Christian Unity for my paper and he was excited about my research. He will have an Orthodox priest speak in his class in April. I asked if I could attend but I will have already visited the Divine Liturgy in the Catholic and Orthodox church. The other paper is on a church father. I will either write about Photius/St Photius or St John Chrysostom. Either way I will be researching all the Eastern Church Fathers and then the West. Post or drop a note to me for anything that you think my be of help. I have found other information on here as well as other sites that have been very helpful! Thanks again! If I am proud of my paper I will share it!

Of the holy first martyr and archdeacon Stephen; of the holy great martyrs Demetrius, George and Theodore of Tyre, and of all holy martyrs. Of the holy women martyrs Thecla, Barbara, Cyriaca. Euphemia, Parasceva and Catherine, and of all holy women martyrs.
On September 24, we observe The Memory of the Holy Protomartyr and Equal-to-the-Apostles, Thecla, who received word of the faith from the Apostle Paul at Iconiumin Lycaonia and at Antioch in Pisidia and who suffered martyrdom in Seleucia of Isauria.
Many years,
Neil
OK I was searching for the concecration as we call it in the LR and the words that you mentioned above. The cutting of the 5th particle. During my search here and on other sites I have found that I can't find it first of all and is there talk that it has changed in the ECC?
The apocrypyl acts of Paul and Thecla is how I ended up researching the Eastern Chruch. Who is Thecla? I read about her we don't talk about her in the LR yet she stands in the 5th position at St. Peters Basilica at the Colonade in Rome. How ironic the 5th particle the 5th position. The EC is using pre cut bread? Do they use Theclas name? I know it sounds like I am obsessed with St Thecla the proto martyr and 1st apostle of St. Paul but there has to be more. Can I read what is said while the priest is concecrating the bread? I know the ECC has terms and I will use them in my paper. I would have to go look them up. I know I would hack the spelling. While I await I will continue my search for this information. Several books have been reccomended but I have other college classes so I can't read every book at this time. I will read them over the summer. I have so many books to read it isn't funny.

That's a lot of stuff to ask! Firstly, and somewhat unfortunately, the Orthodox churches (and ironically as a result of having NOT been latinized) tend to be ethnocentric. They tend to exist as ethnic social halls where their faith is simply a branch of national identity. That's less true than it was ten years ago. Orthodoxy has gained many converts, particularly in the AOCA and the OCA, and English language parishes are far from uncommon.

I wonder if you are a little confused here .
Do you mean that at Holy Dormition Divine Liturgy is normally Served on Wednesdays , Thursdays and Fridays every week at 6.30pm ?
Holy Week is not until 6th April [ New Calendar] or 13th April [ Old Calendar ]

No I am not confused. I read it 3 times and edited it to state the facts briefly.
Every Sunday at 10:00 AM, Holy Dormition in Ormond Beach, FL celebrates the Divine Liturgy.
Wed, Thurs and Fri during Holy Week the Divine Liturgy will also be celebrated at 6:30 PM. I know when Holy week is in both the Julian and Gregorian Calendar. Holy Dormition follows the Gregorian Calendar.
When I spoke to Father Brady and mentioned the 2:30 time posted here he said, " I need to correct that then."
Did I say it correctly this time? Celebrate is the word used?

Cmoore You cannot blame me for feeling you were confused - you clearly stated the times for Wednesday , Thursday and Friday and then added that this was since March 1st Wed, Thurs and Fri during Holy Week at 6:30PM. This has been since March 1st. To me that indicated that since March 1 DL has been Served each Wednesday , Thursday and Friday at 6.30pm

I suppose if you consider every week Holy week then you might think it was every week.
No blame it doesn't bother me. I am confused most of the time. I read it but obviously it wasn't clear. Would you come from Scotland to attend? Just curious. I spent the entire day at church for a first penance retreat with my son. What a wonderful day for the children.
How do you do that quote thing? I haven't figured it out nor have I really tried. It didn't work the 1 time I tried it.

It appears we have several topics going on here in this thread and the discussion is definitely no longer addressing the original topic. It does not serve most any benefit when that happens and only lends to confusion. So I would welcome specific topics and discussion in the appropriate sections be started and remain on-topic. I am closing this thread.
