This is good advice,Bob.I guess anyone born within ten years of the Great Depression might be money hiders. I've been amazed by the number of friends that have been willed significant amounts of money from humble parents 80 years and up. I might suggest to my friends that they check that old furniture and donate what they find to charity.

And do you know the philosophy I've heard so many of these folks use? Try

1. "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." (So they don't buy anything until what they've got is literally falling apart.
2. "Live on half (your income) and save half." (You never know when you can't work and they never heard of unemployment comp.)
3. "Don't buy anything from someone if you can make it yourself."
4. "If it costs more than you think it should, don't buy it." (Even if you might need it; you can always do without; you did before you discovered the need.)
5. "Buy the best you can afford and take REALLY good care of it. Make it last."

Reminds me of the Old-Ritualists. As a friend of mine often comments, they don't spend money on foolishness, so when something comes along that is not foolish, they have the money.

I think it's always best to postpone executions until the person is sound - makes for a much better spectacle that way biggrin

(sorry, couldn't resist)

If it were my own execution, I'd rather stay quiet smile

LOL! grin VERY cute!!

(I am glad that you didn't resist the urge to inject some humour...the above sentence really set itself up for it!--sorry dochawk smile )

I've been accused of leaving many straight lines lying around . . . ( and setups for double entendres that I didn't even understand!)

The Amish, too. It was common for them to pull rather large rolls of cash out of their pockets to make purchases.

The contents of their grocery carts could be amusing, too--heavy on staples, but also on bread-type junk food.
