Glory be to Jesus Christ! Dear Friends, I would like to invite everyone to visit the newly updated (and still being updated) website of the Ukrainian Catholic Redemptorists - Yorkton Province: http://www.yorktonredemptorists.com This website contains a very special section on the Shrine of Blessed Vasyl Velychovsky, CSsR (Bishop and Martyr). http://www.yorktonredemptorists.com/Shrine.htm Some pictures from the weekend (September 20-22, 2002) of the enshrinement of the holy relics of Blessed Vasyl are posted and more are still to come. In a short time, a video of this special weekend will be made available. May Blessed Vasyl intercede for all of us.

Bless me a sinner, Father!
Thank you for sharing this!
I'm not tooting my own horn, but I wrote to the Canadian Catholic Bishops' site and asked them to include Bl. Basil on among their list of Canadian saints - and they did, God bless them!
I also firmly believe this Shrine has Orthodox-Catholic ecumenical significance since the ancestor of Bl. Basil is none other than the Orthodox Saint Paissy Velichkovsky, Teacher of the Jesus Prayer!
And also because Bl. Basil was very Eastern himself and inspired three Pochaiv Lavra Orthodox monks and two Orthodox professors of theology to enter into communion with Rome - all five later died a martyrs' death at the hands of the Soviets and Bl. Basil himself introduced their cause for canonization at Rome!
Kissing your right hand, Father, I again implore your blessing,
In Bl. Basil, St. Alphonsus, St Gerard, St Clement and St John Neumann,
Alex

I looked over those photos, and saw that they had a very lovely icon of Blessed Vasyl.
Are there holy cards/prints available of that icon?

Yes, holy cards, icon prints, mounted icon prints, books, and other items are available through the Shrine's museum gift shop. For more information please contact the Shrine office by phone, 204-338-7321, or by way of email - bvshrine@mts.net.
Iconographer Marianna Savaryn of Edmonton, Alberta wrote the icon of Blessed Vasyl, which is in the Shrine.

Dear Fr. Dmytro,
FYI, my great uncle was the Redemptorist Metropolitan Volodymyr Sterniuk whom I met once just before he died and have some fond memories of him that will last me a long time.
I hope he too will be declared a saint one day - not for my family's collective ego, but for the fact that he truly was a holy man of God.
Alex

Slava Isusu Christu! Dear Father, that is a very nice site. Thanks again for your hospitality. We certainly enjoyed our weekend and the activities. The power of intercession of Blessed Vasyl' will be most powerful.
I'm glad someone took a picture of the brilliant rainbow during Saturday Vespers, I will never forget that nor will my wife and kids. The pictures are great (except I realize I have to lose some weight!).
Holy Martyr Vasyl', pray to God for us!

Not stir up trouble, but I noticed some vested female altar servers in the procession in a picture under the "Sunday" section of the shrine website. Has this been allowed under Canadian UC bishops or the UC church in general?
John.
