Our Holy Father, Saint Francis pray for us!

I attended Mass at a Roman Parish this morning with my Fiance (still getting use to that) and they didn't even mention it was his feast day. Also on her parents wall Calendar which has various Holy Days on it didn't have this feast either. One would think his feast is very important to the Latin Rite (and Eastern Churches as well)?

I would think it should be.

I'm sure that it was celebrated by the Franciscans, you might check the EWTN site...

In general Roman Calendar, since it is fall on a Sunday, is outranked by Sunday XXVIII in Ordinary Time.
But for the Fransiscan calendar, it is a Solemnity and thus it is celebrated.

Roman Sunday praxis post V II is to ignore almost all saint's propers and commemorations in favor of the Sunday propers. The Apostles, St. Steven the Deacon, and Marian feasts will trump sunday, and the holy days of obligation, but not much else will.

Daily, however, all of the saints on the promulgated calendar trump the day.

Only for major feasts, however, do the lections and Gospel change.
