In the Middle East--and Churches of those traditions--Vespers are celebrated so that the following Liturgy of St Basil concludes somewhere between noon and 2 pm. (As has been the case throughout Great & Holy Week.)

This allows time for the church to be cleaned and prepared for the evening services, which begin with Mesonyktikon at around 10.30 pm, followed immediately by Orthros and the Divine Liturgy (which starts at midnight or later).
