I do so wish I could go, and take my children to hear this; but I will be returning from a retreat on that day and cannot attend. I wonder if there will be a recording available at some point in the (near) future?

I will check with the choir director from St. Nicholas in Homestead and let you know. It truly sounds wonderful. The cooperation among us is a joyous thing indeed.

It was amazing. There had to be 450 - 500 people there...the cathedral was packed and the choirs sounded great.

Here is the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church Choir, from Homestead, PA, directed by Andrew Talarovich, singing at the concert. http://www.vimeo.com/11033459

The recording can be choppy on slower computers. Turning off "HD" speeds things along.

For those who are unaware of 'ancient' church history, St. John's Cathedral is the 'mother church' of the faithful of St. Nicholas in Homestead. Suffice it to say that at the height of the celibacy struggles within the Greek Catholic Eparchy of Pittsburgh in the 1930's, the assistant pastor of St.John's Cathedral in Homestead, Father Peter Molchany, found himself on the opposing side of 'cum data fuerit'. He and a significant part of the congregation left the Greek Catholic church and were founders of ACROD and St. Nicholas Church. The ability of the Carpatho-Russians/Rusyns to work together in a spirit of Christian love and brotherhood at both the parish and hierarchical level is truly a wonder to behold. As the Psalmist says, 'It is good for brothers to live in unity.' While we are not united in communion, it is a blessing to see us share those gifts which we do hold in common. "Chavlu Bohu! Christos Voskrese! Christ is Risen!"

Beautiful story and photos. Thanks, Zeeker.
