As a seminarian in Rome we knew Bishop Luigi (Padovese). A very kind priest-capuchin, teacher and apostolic visitator of the Eastern Catholic seminaries in Rome. May his memory be eternal!

Memory eternal to the Lord's servant, the Bishop Luigi

The bishop's murder was a ghastly event. From what I've read about him, he was a good and faithful servant to the Lord and to the Church. May his memory be eternal.

It's also a reminder that we can die at any time and under unexpected circumstances, so let's be ready. And also a reminder that there is a LOT of violence and victims of violence, and we ought to pray for them, and the sociopathis folks who perpetrate violence and cruelty.

May the Lord deliver us from such a fate.
