Hi all,
I found this very nice episode on Khouria Frederica Mathewes-Green's podcast the other day. Khouria interviews Fr. Stephen Wojcichowsky of the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute. It is definitely worth a listen if you haven't heard it already.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
It warmed my heart to read the transcription of the podcast this morning. I was a bit confused about whether there are any other Eastern Catholic Seminaries in North America - think that may have been inaccurate, but the spirit of the interview was wonderful. Thanks for sharing!

I found that a little confusing as well. I can think of a couple more:
The Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh Saint Josephate Ukrainian Seminary in D.C The Maronite Seminary which I think is also in D.C Saint Basil's Minory Seminary in C.T And I think the Melkite Eparchy has a seminary as well.

The Melkite Eparchial Seminary exists solely on paper at this point in time, although St Basil's (Salvatorian) Monastery may be accepting candidates - not certain about that. Eparchial candidates are presently attending St Cyril & Methodius (Ruthenian) Seminary.

Common sense tells us there is no need for each Greek Catholic jurisdiction to have its own seminary. Observing the same rite, we have the same faith, therefore one seminary ought to suffice for all, allowing for economies of scale, higher quality of instruction, and greater confraternity among diaconal and presbyteral candidates from all the Greek Catholic Churches.
However, given that there is no difference in faith between the Orthodox and the Greek Catholics (if our own patriarchs can be believed), there is no reason to have distinct Greek Catholic seminaries at all. We should simply send our candidates to be trained at Orthodox seminaries, whether St. Vlad's or St. Tikhons, or Holy Cross. These already accept Greek Catholics working towards advanced theological degrees, so accepting those who are working towards ordination is no great stretch. Moreover, it would further the goals of restoring the Greek Catholic Churches to the fullness of their authentic Tradition and facilitate increased closeness between the Greek Catholic Churches and their Orthodox counterparts, in anticipation of the day when, with full communion restored, the Greek Catholic Churches will be reintegrated within their mother Churches.
