Dear Friends,

I just got back from being at the OCA conference where I extensively examined their icon and book exhibits and had lunch with an Orthodox priest.

Regrettably, I did not see Fr. Thomas Soroka, but I"m sure he has better things to do than meet me! (Perhaps another time.)

The icons and the books were marvellous, and I obtained icons of:

St Alexis, the Man of God
St Alexander Hotovitsky
The Saints glorified for the Millennium of Christianity in Kyivan Rus'
A metal icon of the Sign of the Mother of God
A gift icon of the Sign

Many years to Fr. Geoffrey Korz and Presbytera Linda and their daughter Sophia of All Saints of North America OCA parish in Hamilton!!

Dear Friends,

(Kobzar, please empty your mail-box . . .).

I was kidding when I said what I said about joining with the OCA.

They are all nice people, very welcoming too.

But I guess we'll stay where we are, come hell or high water.

So please quit with all the private e-mails . . . smile

Sorry I did not get to see you, Alex. I hope that you enjoyed your visit to the AAC. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to visit the city at all, but everyone has been very hospitable.

Bless, Father Thomas!

I am so very sorry that I didn't get to see you. When I was there yesterday, Fr Geoffrey Korz caught up with me as I was looking at religious medallions in the exhibits room.

I guess it would not have been appropriate for me to shout out "Is Fr. Soroka here?" wink

I saw everyone come out for lunch and I kept looking at the name-tags, but no Fr. Soroka . . .

Just knowing that I was in the same building as you, Father, great Pillar of Orthodoxy that you are, is wonderful!

Next time!

Kissing your right hand, I again
implore your blessing,

Alex

Alex,

Glad you had a nice time at the AAC.

It seems your friend Fr. Geoffrey is busy helping along the cause of a Canadian Orthodox saint.

Dear Chtec,

Well I'll be darned!

He didn't say a word about this!

I'll be sure to order it.

Did you know that he has a relative who is a glorified Orthodox New Martyr with the same surname?

What can you tell us about St Arseny - was he glorified locally?

The OCA topic is meaningful: Our Church and the Future. We will wait to see their future though.

The OCA is investing so much in 'autocephallism' and 'primatiality', especially during the tenance of current primate, while many OCA priests live in poverty.

I don't think that the OCA has less problems, in comparison to the other Orthodox jurisdictions in North America.

Alex,

You would have enjoyed very much the Akathist to All Saints of North America that was served last night. It was beautiful! 1,000 people singing the Akathist, it was really moving....

It seems that on http://www.archdiocese.ca/archives.htm, Archbishop Arseny is called "Blessed." I think the OCA Synod of Bishops was looking into his canonization.

At St. Tikhon's Monastery, there is a small skete dedicated to St. Arsenius the Great, in honor of Archbishop Arseny.

His life is pretty interesting! Give it a read. I never realized how much work he did in my "neck of the woods." biggrin

Bless, Father Thomas!

You are bringing tears to my eyes - for not being there to experience the Akathist!

Where may I purchase a copy of this Akathist?

Kissing your right hand, I again implore your blessing,

Good question!

Will any recorded parts of the OCA conference be available for purchase?
