A friend of mine told me that a Melkite priest friend of his in Pennsylvania said that Our Lady of Solitude retreat has just been closed. Can any Melkites on the forum confirm this? Also, if this is true, any reason for this action? Thank you.

If it's true, that's highly disappointing. From their website they seemed to have been establishing themselves fairly well. I thought I read that they were in the midst of constructing a monastery church?

If they've truly closed for good, I wonder where the monks will go?

I understand that Fr. Angelus has fallen ill; while it is not formally closed he is not apparently taking any new guests for a while until he recovers.

I heard the same thing as Diak...I talked recently to a woman who knows him, she said he's having back trouble lately.
