I saw a thread about this issue before, but being a new member I just cannot find it anymore.
Well, this is basically crying out for help...
Please, I just need to be able to pronounce the Divine Liturgy in a fairly decent sounding "Ukrainian".
I never learned Latin, but I was able to pronounce the Gregorian Mass with no trouble. Now, participating, and actually having registered in my closest Ukrainian parish, I found myself asking for a transliteration into English that is nowhere to be found.
Any help? Anyone?
Many blessings!

Robert.

Welcome to the forum.

You're correct. This topic was discussed very recently and some recommendations were offered. At the moment, I can't recollect where the thread was. I don't have time to search for it right now but, hopefully, someone seeing this will remember and link you to it.

Many years,

Neil

Try this one, but I think there was another as well

Robert, I still have several copies of the transliterated English/Ukrainian Divine Liturgy booklets made by Deacon Yaroslav Bohach of blessed memory for St. Michael's UGCC of Grand Rapids, Michigan. PM me an address and I will send.

I am in Pennsylvania. Would it be possible to obtain one of the transliterations and what is the total cost?
Thank you!

Diak,
This should be the must unusual answer ever. Two years to respond!! And, to such a nice reply...
But, if I explained what actually happened it should take me several pages. Just, please, be aware that I do appreciate your answer, and that I would like to take advantage of the Ukrainian-into-English transliteration made by Father Yuraslov. My email is ecclesiaprimus@gmail.com, and if you could send me the attachment that would be fantastic. Now, if you would like to fax it, just dial 954.443.3738.
God bless you abundantly,
rob

Dear Irish Melkite,
As I said to Diak, this is is the most unusual answer... Two years in the making!!
Very long to explain...
Now, I know you can understand (b/c of your background) my concern. I was born in South America from Italian,Spaniard parents. Became a Roman Catholic in my mid 20's, to land finally 25 years later into the Church that I always wanted (will need a long explaining...): an Greek-Ukrainian Catholic Church. Moreover, with this move I scape from the post Vatican II Roman onslaught, which is a plus. Thank you for your concern about the transliteration into English the Old Slavonic Divine Liturgy. Now I am looking for a Spanish-into-Old Slavonic transliteration!! Wow!
Many blessings!

You're right about this. There's no way I could read the Cyrillic, even if I tried. Perhaps if the Ukrainian DL would have a tri-column parallel format where you'd have the Cyrillic Ukrainian, Transliterated Ukrainian, and THEN English, it would make it easy for those who can't follow along with the Cyrillic writing to be able to follow along with the Ukrainian-language DL. The English-language DLs over at St. Josaphat can tend to be a bit scaled down, meaning that half the DL is recited, and they don't even use incense. Things may be more traditional and less "Latinized" in their Ukrainian-language DLs, but unless I can pick up on the Ukrainian DL, it's gonna be quite tough.
