Hello everyone..several months ago I remember seeing something on this forum about how much worth seniors can be because they have more time now for prayer. I would like to find this discussion again, as it really hit home. Thanks for any help you can give me. Simplicity

Good point--more time (retirement, unemployment, illness, age, etc.), more prayer...no matter the circumstance.
With this, one acquires more and more of God's grace.

I was blessed to have had among my parishioners a woman who had suffered a series of massive strokes.
After the third of the series some doctors were ready to give up on her, until she began to communicate with eye blinks. She gradually progressed to a spelling board and finally to labored speech.
She never did regain mobility and was beadfast in a nursing home for over a decade. During that time her two adult sons took turns visiting, alteranting days. They would read the local newspaper to her cover to cover, as well as the parish newsletter and bulletin.
Madeline was one of the best informed parishioners I have ever known, and she used her disability as an opportunity for nearly constant prayer. When I would bring her the Eucharist her first questions were to ask about each and every person whose name had appeared on the parish prayer list. It was only in her final weeks that she grew too weak to make such querries.
Talk about selflessness!
I am awestruck and humbled to be considered worthy to have ministered to such a saint.

simplicity: That was a thread I started last September. The thread/post number is #386313. The list is still in the making. Let me know by pm of your needs. Alice: Don't have more time due to retirement or illness, but added it to my prayer rule anyway. Bob
