The extraordinary Synod held on 11th Januray 2014 of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, has elected Archbishop Rastislav of Prešov as the new Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. Forty nine delegates attended where 87% of the votes were made in favor of Archbishop Rastislav. Archbishop Rastislav also served as the Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan See of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands after the resignation of the former Metropolitan Christopher.

An ethnic Rusyn, His Eminence is a young man in his 30's. Prior to his succeeding the late Arch. Jan of Presov last year, he served as chaplain for the Children's Home of Medzilaborce, administered by the archdiocese.

Many years! Mnohaja Lita,Vladyko! Eis polla eti Despota! Axios!

He will be enthroned at the Orthodox Cathedral in Presov. If available, I will post video links.
