A Prayer for Peace in Ukraine:

Heavenly Father, Your Son taught us

“Blessed are the Peacemakers for

they shall be called Children of God.”

At this hour, we fervently pray that

Your Holy Spirit may inspire men and

women in Ukraine to become Peacemakers.

May they seek reconciliation and dialogue

and end the violent confrontation and killing.

May they restore tranquility to their nation

and restore human rights, democratic principles

and religious liberty to their troubled land.

God, our Father, we beseech you to comfort

the suffering, heal the wounded and accept the

souls of the departed into Your Heavenly Kingdom.

And may the Most Holy Mother of God, extend her

Blessed Mantle of Protection over Ukraine.

And may each of us always live our lives

as instruments of Your Peace.

Amen.

Царю небесний, утішителю, Душе істини, що всюди єси і все наповняєш, скарбе дібр і життя подателю, прийди і вселися в нас, і очисти нас від усякої скверни, і спаси, благий, душі наші.

Prayers for Ukraine, for our Orthodox and Catholic brethren there, and for all Ukrainians.

(Reminder - this thread is in the Prayer Forum - political commentary belongs elsewhere on the board)

"One day all our ethnic traits ... will have disappeared. Time itself is seeing to this. And so we can not think of our communities as ethnic parishes, ... unless we wish to assure the death of our community."

May God forbid any political commentary of any kind anywhere here!

Everything is in God's Hands alone.

Our prayer ought to reveal to us that despite turbulence all around, Christ is in control and all will be well.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy!

Aye...a most timely reminder.

On Forgiveness Sunday Lutheran and Anglican Christians hear the Gospel of the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-9).

Amid all the clamoring voices of this world, God who reveals His Son on Mt. Tabor declares "HEAR YE HIM!".

May we not only hear Him, but obey Him and proclaim Him!

A Hymn for the Transfiguration:

"'Tis Good, Lord, to Be Here"
by Joseph A. Robinson, 1858-(?)

1. 'Tis good, Lord, to be here,
Thy glory fills the night;
Thy face and garments, like the sun,
Shine with unborrowed light.

2. 'Tis good, Lord, to be here,
Thy beauty to behold
Where Moses and Elijah stand,
Thy messengers of old.

3. Fulfiller of the past,
Promise of things to be,
We hail Thy body glorified
And our redemption see.

4. Before we taste of death,
We see Thy kingdom come;
We fain would hold the vision bright
And make this hill our home.

5. 'Tis good, Lord, to be here.
Yet we may not remain;
But since Thou bidst us leave the mount,
Come with us to the plain.
