HH Mar Dinkha IV, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Church of the East (Assyrian), is reported to have reposed in the Lord a few hours ago.

O Lord, receive the soul of Your servant, the High Priest Mar Dinkha, who has departed from this earthly place to repose in Your Bosom; lead his soul to rest in a place of light, happiness, and peace, where there is neither pain nor suffering, neither grief nor sighing, but only life everlasting. And as You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, forgive him every sin he has committed by thought, or word, or deed, or omission, for there is not a man who lives and does not sin, for You alone are without sin and You are the Resurrection and the Life.

May the memory of His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV be eternal!

May our brethren of the Assyrian Church be comforted in the loss of their Shepherd and spiritual father!

Quote
It is great sorrow and a heavy heart that His Beatitude Mar Aprem, Metropolitan of India and Patriarchal Vicar, in unison with all the members of the Holy Synod of the Assyrian Church of the East, announce the falling asleep in the Lord of His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East. The late Patriarch passed at 10:04 am, this morning (Thursday, March 26, 2015) at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. His Holiness was surrounded by the prelates, clergy and family members. The prelates and clergy were in constant prayer at His Holiness' bedside. Details of the Patriarch's viewing and funeral will be forthcoming.

By Grace,
+Mar Awa Royel
Secretary of the Holy Synod

May God clothe Mar Dinkha with glory in Paradise!

Please, my brothers and sisters, I beg you, I beseech you, I entreat you to heed the request of Mar Aprem, Metropolitan of India and Locum Tenens of the Church of the East, in praying both for Mar Dinkha and for the Holy Synod:

'We fraternally ask your solicitude and prayers during these last weeks of Holy and Great Lent in remembering the head of the heads of Christ's Church in the East, and praying for the repose in Christ's promise for His Holiness Maran Mar Dinkha IV. We further request your prayers for the Holy Synod of the Assyrian Church of the East as we gather to assume the awesome task of prayer, fasting, and deliberation so that the Holy Spirit may raise up a worthy successor to the throne of the Catholicos-Patriarch of Seleucia-Ctesiphon and Patriarch of All the East.'

Sincerely yours in the Peace of Christ,
Alex
