Have any of your parishes ever been featured in the local "Latin" diocesan newspapers, or have you ever proposed to the local paper that the come and do a profile on your local church?

That'd be a wonderful way to get some positive exposure.

Apparently, the local Byzantine parish in Portland was approached by the Catholic Sentinel. I'm not sure what came of it, though.

We get peripheral notice when there are world events affecting our churches and they're looking for a quote about the issues, but you're talking more about showcasing/spotlighting. Not a prime topic, as the typical Latin diocese isn't in the business of fostering 'the competition' - though you'd get no one to say that.

(Same reason why most Latin dioceses don't feel compelled to mention our parishes in the lists on their website of 'ethnic', 'national', 'foreign language' ministries.)

Still, there are more than a few articles that have been linked over the years. Obviously, it happens most often when the Latin hierarch happens to visit for one reason or another, but there are exceptions. The Boston Pilot has done pieces from time to time - but Boston is an archdiocese where the Eastern and Oriental parishes have enjoyed a half century plus history of excellent relations with the local Latin ordinaries.

Many years,

Neil

"Mary's Shrine" the publication of the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, DC placed the icon of the Protection of the Mother of God (from the Byzantine Chapel) on the cover. Page 4 featured a story about the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Chapel with a nice big picture of Bishop Kurt, concelebrating clergy, and Christine Dochwat...the artist who made the mosaic which grace the chapel.
