Know it has been a while since posting last. First off wanted to say hi to everyone and that I have been reading the forum.

Lately I have been attending an OCA parish with much enjoyment. Though yesterday on Sunday of the Last Judgement. The priest spoke of Gabriel and Michael being asked to read from their books from Christ of who would enter the kingdom. Gabriel had everyone entering and Michael had everyone not. He said on entering the temple we would should say a prayer to Gabriel. Now the sermon was much more detailed with details, cautions, and exhortations that I am forgetting.

Though something made me wonder. As a Roman Catholic when you look at our piety the emphasis is usually placed on Michael. I know I prayed to him to grant me a favorably weighing at the day of judgment. It never really struck to pray to Gabriel, because of Hail Marys and Angelus you say his lines a lot.

When I went to use google the searches did not provide any substantial results for Orthodox Prayers to St. Gabriel. Does anyone know of an Akathist to this angel or other angels besides Michael?

Thank you

For the Synaxis of St Gabriel, there are Troparia and Kontakia, which are obviously not as long as an Akathist, but can be memorized for a prayer before entering the temple.

The OCA versions can be found here: Synaxis of Archangel Gabriel [oca.org]

I will try to copy the Melkite versions out of my Horologion when I get home - that is, if they are substantially different, which I sort of doubt.
