This is an excellent article on the liturgy by Dr. Adam DeVille. While it is written to speak to Roman Catholics about issues with the Novus Ordo, Byzantine Christians can profit from it very much. When it comes to liturgy, we're all mutually-enriching mongrels [ catholicworldreport.com] You can read it for yourself, but it all boils down to this: It's about worship! It's about worship! It's about worship!

I wish I had learned about the Eastern church 48 years ago. So glad to see some Byzantine priests reaching out to Latin Catholics who are dismayed at the condition of their church. It may be too little, too late I'm afraid.

Indeed. Can anyone point me to a source and the exact quote for the occasion when Patriarch Athenagoras met with Paul VI in Jerusalem and is reported to have said to the pope in French something along the lines of "Mon cher, do not change the liturgy"?
