Pope Saint John Paul II and other Roman and Eastern Catholic saints were added to the Melkite liturgical calendar in 2015:

Quote
They decided to add Saints Sharbel Makhluf, Francis of Assisi, Rafqa, Rita, Nimatullah al-Hardini, Don Bosco, Ignatius of Loyola, Teresa of Avila, Thérèse of Lisieux, John Paul II, John XXIII, Vincent de Paul, Mary of Jesus Crucified and Alphonsine to the Ordo of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. Those saints will be commemorated on their feast-day according to the Ordo of their original Church so that they can be examples for everyone on the path to holiness.

The Eparchy in Mukachevo is building a church under the patronage of Saint John Paul II: http://www.mgce.uz.ua/iphotogallery.php?album_key=3068

I presume that his feast day will be observed in this church.

However, they are 5th class commemoration and promulgation accorded is accorded to the bishop of each individual eparchy.

Good for the Melkites! i once met our Patriarch Svyatoslav and suggested the UGCC place St John Paul II in our calendar. His response was "That is a good idea!" smile

BTW, do I have everyone's permission to toot my own horn? Yes? OK then . . .

I wrote a private menber's legislative bill for the province of Ontario to formally honour St John Paul II on April 2nd in each year. It is now law. AND the Parliament of Canada has now approved "Pope John Paul Day" on April 2nd as well (the day St John Paul reposed).

I ask St John Paul II to pray for me a sinner.
