THREE NEW BOOKS OF SCRIPTURE
from
The Society of St. John Chrysostom
The Orientale Lumen Foundation and
Eastern Christian Publications

with the blessing of
Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia and
Bishop John Michael Botean

Eastern Christian Publications is pleased to announce a new ecumenical collection of three books of Apostolic and Old Testament readings. Keyed to the calendar of both the Eastern Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches, these Revised Standard Version texts are available in a Deluxe edition– printed in two colors with leatherette binding – and an Economy edition – black and white with paperback binding. All books are 6”x9” in size.
b]Book of Apostolic Readings: Epistles for the Divine Liturgy[/b] – the texts of daily epistle readings for the liturgical year according to the Byzantine Typicon (~300 pages)
Book of Prophetic Readings: Old Testament Readings for Vespers – the texts for Sundays, Feasts and for saints according to the Byzantine Typicon (~400 pages)
Book of Thematic Readings: Old Testament Readings Relating to the Sunday Gospels – a brand new collection of Old Testament readings for Great Vespers which match the theme of the Sunday Gospel or Feast, including the corresponding Gospel text (~200 pages)
These editions were compiled by Father Mark Shuey of the Ukrainian Catholic Church (Apostolic and Prophetic) and Father Theodore Pulcini of the Antiochian Orthodox Church (Thematic) for use in their own parishes. They are now being published through the combined blessing of Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia and Bishop John Michael Botean,
co-patrons of the Society of St. John Chrysostom in the U.S. and the Orientale Lumen Foundation and Conferences.

Christ is in our midst!!

A question was posed on another thread about the RSV translation. Is it the original with "thee, "thou," etc. or is it the updated one from after 1996?

Bob, sorry for the delayed reply. It's the updated RSV after 1996.

I have an Ignatius Press edition--second edition revised 2002 in accord with Liturgiam Authenticam. Is that the one you refer to? I believe there is also a second Catholic edition from after 1996 that is not as new as the 2002.

For the "Book of Thematic Readings: Old Testament Readings Relating to the Sunday Gospels", is there a listing of the scripture passages for the various Sundays. While I am planning on suggesting these to my parish and will even offer to donate them, I would not use the RSV in my own personal scripture reading. So it would be nice to have a listing that I can pray along with my own Bible on days I can't make it to vespers or if my parish does not adopt these books.

Also can I confirm that the ECPub books do NOT use the traditional language for God such as "thee", "thine", or "thou".
