With the current travel and group-meeting restrictions due to COVID-19, the 24th annual Orientale Lumen Conference will be held as a “virtual” conference on June 23, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 pm via Zoom video conferencing. The theme of this year’s conference is “Liturgy and Icons: Worshiping with Images.” The plenary speakers will pre-record their 45-minute presentations and those recordings will be made available on a private YouTube channel for all registered participants to view at their convenience in early June. Those registered will be invited to submit questions in advance and will be sent a secure link to watch the live panel discussion among the plenary speakers on June 23rd. The registration fee for the plenary videos and the live panel discussion is $50 before June 10, and $75 thereafter.

The plenary speakers planned are:
• Archbishop Elpidophoros, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of New York and All America (confirmed)
• Bishop Daniel, Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church (invited)
• Bishop Alexis of Bethesda, Orthodox Church in America (invited)
• Father Mark Morozowich, Dean of the School of Theology, the Catholic University of America (confirmed)
• Father Thomas Loya, “Light of the East” radio, Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church (confirmed)
• Father John Perich, St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church (confirmed)

Bishop John Michael Botean, Romanian Catholic Diocese of Canton, will be the moderator of the live panel discussion which will incorporate the questions submitted in advance. As a special bonus, archive videos of Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia and Father Justin of St. Catherine’s Monastery on Mt. Sinai will also be made available via the private YouTube channel. These were lectures on iconography recorded at Villanova University in 2012.
