Anybody else on here going Orthodox anytime soon? With the heated debate of the revised Liturgy, I figure there might be a few others. If you don't want to post, you can PM me. Just curious....

Please forgive me, I do not know enough about what it is with the new Liturgy that sends some to go Orthodox. I am sure the ground has been covered in the forum, but can someone give a brief synopsis, or 2-3 bullet points? Thanks. God Bless.

I don't want to start bad feelings or any heated debate over this. I am becoming Orthodox and will be received into the Antiochian Church at Theophany of 2007. My conversion has nothing to do with what is going with the revised liturgy (which does not affect Melkites).

I will say that I can see how one can go either way, byzantine catholic or orthodox. So, I respect each conscience on this matter. Peace in Christ,

I'm going to join the Orthodox Church. My decision has nothing to do with the BCC's proposed new translation of the Liturgy. Instead, for me, it is the next logical step in my spiritual journey. Eastern Christianity is my home; and, for me, Orthodoxy is the most complete expression of that.

I know it took me several years to move to Eastern Catholicism - years of thought, prayers and at times anguish

It is something that my family and I are prayerfully and carefully considering and studying. But it has nothing to do with changes to the liturgy.

My dh and I are entering the Eastern Orthodox Church on the feast of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise God!!

I know two italian priests, one is the pastor at a Melkite Church (Fr. Joseph Francavilla, Holy Transfig, McClean, VA) and the other was a former member of this same parish and is now an Antiochian Orthodox pastor (Fr. Theodore Pulcini, St. Mary's, Chambersburg, PA). And the other Antiochian priest (Fr. Elias Yelovich) at St. Mary's works at a Roman Catholic University (Mount St. Mary's www.msmary.edu) [msmary.edu)] . And the Deacon of St. Mary's (Evangelos) is married to a Roman Catholic! and Evangelos 2 children goto St. Maria Goretti Catholic School and yet are officially Orthodox!

Now when Metropolitan Philip of the Antiochian Orth Church was visting Fr. Yelovich's university he blessed the Franciscan Friars of the Primitive Observance (they have long beards) and several other priests and Catholic people.

So..whatever way you go..brothers and sisters..somehow we're always going to come together whether you like it or not. Let's show those Calvinists converts what unity is all about!!!

I still dont quite understand the papal primacy role but I view both Churches as true and equal, and the fullness of truth. Though I would not hesistate to ask bishops permission to be in a different church or communion (including Orthodox) if their were a constructive reason. (I don't believe in mixed faith marriages) For now I am RC with no intention of changing anytime soon since the RC Church needs a lot of Eastern influence and help from the well catechised. Though I no longer kneel in RC liturgies, I always bow. ehhhehe

He is first among equals in his dignity as bishop and, as the successor of St. Peter, stands at the head of the college of apostolic successors, supporting and strengthening them in their ministry and, on occasion, exercising his teaching and pastoral authority in the name of the whole college.

Yes - I agree with Lance. I hope all of you stay and continue our "virtual communion" here at ByzaCath. (Of course, I wish all of you would STAY and help us Orthodoxize our parishes as well! )
