Hi,
I hope this question belongs to this section of the forum.
In Mexico we have the custom to bless lots of things, a new home, a new car, anything that will be instrumental in bringing income to a household, etc.
Is this also the case with any Eastern tradition? If so, are there some online resources out there I can see? I'd be particularly interested in blessings for a new home.
Thank you!
Shalom, Memo

Memo, The below link is the Prayer for the Foundation of a New Home. I hope this helps. Blessing of New Home Prayer [ goarch.org] In IC XC, Father Anthony+
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Dear Memo,
Actually, there are two additional books to the "Book of Needs" in the East that contain blessings of new homes, new wells and, since my father was a beekeeper, there are four blessings related to: new bees, beekeeping instruments, for a good honey harvest and fresh honey.
I'll see if I can find an English version of the blessing of the new home for you.
The patron saints of a new home in the Eastern, Byzantine tradition are: St Michael the Archangel and St Joseph the Patriarch, son of Jacob and some others that escape me.
When I moved into my new home, I put up an icon of St Joseph the Patriarch . . .
I'll see what I can come up with.

Bless, Father Anthony!
Is the serving of a Moleben to St Joseph the Patriarch traditional for those times as well?

Dear Alex,
It may be according to certain traditions. I am unaware personally of it being done in the Greek tradition, but may be for some of the eastern European traditions.
Also I have been searching for the Book of Needs service. In the St Tikhon's editions, it is in Volume 4, but I have not found it online as of yet.

Hello Memo, Yes, this is the right forum! I can speak for the Greek Orthodox when I tell you that a new house or apartment is always blessed, as are new businesses, and sometimes cars. The blessing of homes and businesses is very, very customary in Greece, and more marginally so here in the U.S. where generations have become Americanized. In Christ, Alice

Memo, the Lesser Blessing of Water is also sometimes used when someone is taking up abode in a new home, and there is a prayer in the Trebnik (Book of Needs) for someone taking abode in a new home. Homes are also blessed annually after Theophany in all of the churches using the Constantinopolitan tradition.
In the Old Rite tradition there may be as many as four annual home blessings by the priest.

Dear Father DIAKON! (How do you like my new title for you? ). I understand that even during Pascha the Old Rite priests go to the homes of the faithful! Could you comment? Alex
