I would say that atheism is a contradiction in terms even though he is saying that it's based on probability. How can anyone posit that in the entire universe (or theoretical multiple universes) that there is no God. That would mean that the person who says that there is no God has to be able to know all of the universe (and theoretical multiple universes) and has seen everything and been everywhere to assert this universal negative. That means to know that there is no God you'd have to be...God.

The other nonsensical argument is that since all religions claim to be true, and they almost always contradict each other on very important points (even in Christianity; Catholics vs Orthodox vs Protestants) then the safest bet is to choose no religion.
That's like saying that it's better to stay on the sinking ship instead of swimming for the shore because: I might get swept under the waves; I might get eaten by sharks; I might get run over by a passing boat; I might get swept into colder waters; etc, etc, etc...
It is a psychological defense mechanism so as to not make a committment or to make a decision.

It does not follow from the fact that we do not know everything that we do not know something. One does not have to know everything there is to know about the universe to know (were it true) that God does not exist nor to know (what is true) that God does exist.
The only way to show that there is a contradiction in atheism is to argue from the scientific knowability of the universe (assuming that the atheist grants this point) to the conclusion that the universe's scientific knowability depends on the fact that the existence of the universe depends an ultimate cause--that is, a creator God.
Thus, the contradiction is not in the claim of atheism itself, but in joining the claim of atheism to the claims of natural science. You cannot have both.
