in re 2: I don't know many Eastern
Catholic authors. However, Eastern Orthodox theology is pretty close. You might want to consider Bishop Kallistos Timothy Ware's "The Orthodox Way" and Vladimir Lossky's "The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church."
