Dear Anastasios,

A PhD in Byzantine Chant?

Sounds like a scholar of great note . . .

So we have established that women cannot serve at the alter. But is this being inforced in the Byzantine Catholic churches?? I personally like the idea of the priest finding men when there is a shortage of boys. I would never think of saying no.
oh, never mind.

I cannot imagine why any man would not wish to serve at our Lord's altar.

Every time after we have served, Fr. Mike gives us a blessing in the Sacristy. And when he blesses me and thanks me for serving, I always say "Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving"

And honor it is. I have no pretensions that I have any "right" to be at the altar.

I am overjoyed to be so blessed.
