I remember attending a Greek Orthodox DL and the priest reciting, what sounded like
"Kyrie Thomeh".

Can someone (Alice wink ) please explain what the "Thomeh" means ?

Brad - it's all Greek to me

What you probably heard was "...tou Kyriou deithomen" or "...let us pray to the Lord" (as in "En eirini tou Kyriou deithomen" or "In peace let us pray to the Lord").

Hope that helps!

Still further to the point; in modern Greek the consonant Delta (equivalent to D) is pronounced rather like a half-voiced DH, and it is not altogether unusual for contemporary Greeks to drop final consonants, so deithomen may have sounded like dheithomeh.

chtec,
Hi, I am Western and studied Greek for two years. Of course, they made me use the Erasmian pronunciation. But I have wanted to learn the Eastern pronunciation. Could you possibly give me a run down on the differences?
Thanks so much.
