Dear Friends,
I'm trying to find out more about the cult of St Philomena - I've read much of the RC material out there, and being intrigued by Dr Alexander Roman's comment that St Philomena is on the Orthodox calendar, decided to ask about here.
I've found a ΦΙΛΟΜΕΝΗ (Φιλουμένη, Φιλομένη, Φιλουμενη, Φιλομενη) commemorated on 29 November mentioned here: http://www.eortologio.gr/data/eortes2.php?minas=&onoma=%D6
but can't seem to find anything else. I haven't access to a Greek Synaxarion or Menaion - can anybody check them and confirm whether this is the same person?

29 November in the Greek calendar, it seems. If it's the same Philomena, this raises some very very curious questions.
If what you have is in Greek, that's fine - I can read it!

Dear Friends and devotees of St Philumena,
Andrew is correct, the feast of St Philumena is July 5th.
The relics of this St Philumena were found in the church of San Lorenzo in Bogliolo at San Severino in 1527. She is known to have lived before 500AD The feast of the deposition of her relics at San Severino is July 4th.
The "controversial" St Philumena of the West may very well have been the same person, we don't know - but probably not.
The fact is that the Latin Church NEVER said it did not believe in this St Philumena, martyred under Diocletian, only that her relics were not those found in the tomb in question.
The controversy was about her relics, not about the reality of her person.

According to the synaxarion, published by the Monastery of Simonos Petra, the commemmorartion for the saint on that day is a male, Philumenus.
I do not have the volume that would have the July/August Saints.
The volumes I am referring to, are published in English, but are difficult and expensive to get. The volume that would have the July/August saints is not due out for another year.
I will check a few places for the July 5th saints.

I am sorry, but checking all the references I have regarding saints, (I have an extensive libray of saint's lives), plus my menalogion program, I come up with no saint by that name on that date. I am sorry.

Yes, its the same person. The bones found in the catacombs were of another person. A saint cannot have 2 bodies, so the Roman Church supressed the cult of the 2nd St. Philamena. The Saint of San Severino's feast is Aug. 11.
