Does anyone have any info on prayers for the glorification of Fr. Walter Ciszek?

Also does anyone have info on prayers for the glorification of Bishop Romza (how about ikons?) or any other the martyrs of the Carpatho Rus? I am happy to see that the pope is "allowing" the glorification of of some of the martyrs of Ukraine-I'm hoping that some of the Carpatho Rus will also be "officially" glorified.

Dear Khouri,

Following the Beatification of Blessed Theodore Romzha and the other Martyrs, we will be able to use the Byzantine Propers for Hiermartyrs and Saints in praying to them.

Icons have already been written of them and will eventually get on this side of the pond.

Alex

Just so you know Alex, as you're so wont to ask for the blessings of priests, khouri is Arabic for priest.

Il barakeh Abouna. Are you a Melkite priest? Min wain dakheelak?

Stefan-Ivan, thanks for the website on Fr. Walter.

Sam, believe it or not I serve the Ruthenians but have Melkites in the community who call me "Khouri" or "Abouna."
The community here tends to be pan-Byzantine and so we all share titles, celebrations, feasts and customs. The Slavic titles for "priest" or "Little Father" were either taken when I signed on or I just had talked to one of my Melkite friends! I hope you were teasing poor Orthodox Catholic. But then maybe everyone who read the posting learned something new.
Grace and peace to all!

Orthodox Catholic, you mention "when" Bishop Romzha is "beatified." Is this in the works officially?

Ah, the problem of using Latin terms/distinctions for things Byzantine...I just finished watching the beatifications. Thanks, RichC. The Liturgy was beautiful.
May Christ God, through the prayers of His Saints, save us and have mercy on us!

It should be taking place in about two or three hours from now... along with 26 other Catholic martyrs from present-day Ukraine...

Dear Friends,

I think that RichC should get to bed a little earlier than he does . . . [Linked Image]

We now have 27 newly Beatified Byzantine Catholic Martyrs and one newly Beatified nun, Blessed Josafata Hordashevska.

Holy Byzantine Catholic New Martyrs, Bl. Clement Sheptytsky, Bl. Emilian Kovch, Bl. Leonid Fyodorov and your companians, pray unto God for us!!

Dear Alex,

Isn't one of the Holy Father's nicknames the Saintmaker? So many saints, so little time for the Pope to raise them to the altars. I only hope we get some of our own beatified. Lebanon, coming from a disastrous civil war is fertile ground for the making of saints and an excellent place to search for them. However, it's the Maronites who have been getting saints proclaimed. Fathi Baladi, a young Melkite boy killed in the war is a candidate for beatification, but I have no idea what the present state of his case is.

Father, bless.

I read over my post once again, and I was laughing over how different it sounded and how more haughty a tone it picked up. No, I was only offering Alex another conduit of grace as he and myself covet the blessings of priests.

Dear Samer,

And if you, friend, want to impart your blessing to me, I accept that gratefully!

Perhaps your blessing can cure me of my alleged "hatred" for the Moscow Patriarchate [Linked Image] .

Yes, the Pope is the Saintmaker.

But I agree with what Stuart posted a while ago about how the Eastern Churches should be able to glorify their own Saints.

The Moscow Patriarchate glorified many New Martyrs last year, good for it.

Oh, darn, I wasn't supposed to say something nice about the MP, was I? I am supposed to hate it, right? [Linked Image]

May all the Holy New Martyrs of Lebanon pray for us.

And when Andrew Sheptytsky is finally beatified, then we can sing the "Nunc dimittis."

To His Holiness, Patriarch Alexey of Moscow, many years! Mnogaya Leta!

Oh, there I go again . . .

Alex

Dear Friends,

I thought I would insert this on the day of the Beatification of the Ukrainian Martyrs.
Another Pennsylvania Saint.

PRAYER FOR THE CAUSE OF
CANONIZATION OF
FATHER WALTER CISZEK, S.J.

We adore You, Most Holy Trinity, and we thank You for the exemplary life of Your Servant, Father Walter Ciszek. We pray that his strong faith in Your loving providence, his great love for You, and his kindness to all people be recognized by the Church. If it be Your Will, may he be given to us as a saintly model of these virtues so that we too may be better motivated to dedicate our lives to Your greater honor and glory. We commend our petition through the prayers of the holy Mother of God. For to You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is due all glory, honor and worship, now and forever. Amen.
