Mary Elizabeth,

The following links will take you to sites that either have text or photo-sequences of the Liturgy in various of the Eastern Churches. (This might allow your daughter to attend and participate more fully in the Liturgy than she'll otherwise be able to, if she has to do it with the end purpose of making detailed notes.):

Divine Liturgy - Byzantine-Greek Tradition - Byzantine Melkite Greek-Catholic Church - text [rongolini.com]

Divine Liturgy - Byzantine-Slav Tradition - Byzantine Ruthenian Catholic Church - text [homestead.com]

Divine Liturgy -Byzantine-Slav Trad...n Greek-Catholic Church - photo sequence [homestead.com]

Holy Mass - Antiochene Rite - East Syrian Tradition - Chaldean Catholic Church - text [ecah.homestead.com]

Holy Mass - Antiochene Rite - East Syrian Tradition - Syro-Malabar Catholic Church - text [homestead.com]

For the Syro-Malankara's Holy Qurbana, I have both text and photo sequence sites. If you had 2 PCs side-by-side, you could really experience this. smile

Holy Qurbana - Antiochene Rite - West Syrian Tradition - Syro-Malankara Catholic Church - text [homestead.com]

Holy Qurbana - Antiochene Rite - We...lankara Catholic Church - photo sequence [homestead.com]

I know you've been to a Maronite Liturgy, but I am including the link anyway.

Service of the Mysteries - Maronite Rite -Maronite Catholic Church - text [ecah.homestead.com]

The next link will take you to a posting on this forum. The text of the Ethiopian Catholic Liturgy is replicated in the message, but you will have to scroll down to it, as it's preceded by some explanatory text. The second link is for an Ethiopian Catholic Children's Liturgy; it was recently added to the website of the only Ethiopian Catholic church in the US.

Divine Liturgy - Alexandrean Rite - Ge-ez Tradition - Ethiopean Catholic Church - text

Divine Liturgy - Alexandrean Rite -...olic Church - Children\'s Liturgy - text [catholic-forum.com]

I don't know of an on-line site with the text of the Coptic Catholic Divine Litugy; the following is a Coptic Orthodox Divine Liturgy, which will be virtually identical:

Divine Liturgy - Alexandrean Rite - Coptic Tradition - Coptic Orthodox Church - text [st-peter-st-paul-coptic-orthodox-church.org]

I don't have an on-line site with the text of the Holy Qurbono of the Syriac Catholic Church either. The following is the Holy Qurbono of the Syrian Jacobite Church; again, it will be virtually identical:

Holy Qurbono - Antiochene Rite - West Syrian Tradition - Syrian (Jacobite) Orthodox Church - text [sor.cua.edu]

Again, I don't know of an on-line site for the Soorp Badarak (Holy Liturgy) of the Armenian Catholic Church. The following are excellent sites for the Armenian Apostolic or Gregorian Church; the text will be virtually identical.

The first presents English & Armenian text on facing pages and has some accompanying text on etiquette in church, as well as services other than the Holy Liturgy. The second offers both text and explanation; the third does not have verbatim text, as I recollect, but it has a wonderful explanation of the parts of the Holy Liturgy. Frankly, I included all 3 URLs because they represent 3 of the most informative and well-done of all such sites with which I'm familiar, each in a slightly different way.

Holy Liturgy (Soorp Badaka) - Armenian Rite - Armenian Apostolic Church - text [cilicia.com]

Holy Liturgy (Soorp Badaka) - Armenian Rite - Armenian Apostolic Church - text w/ explanation [hyeetch.nareg.com.au]

Holy Liturgy (Soorp Badaka) - Armenian Rite - Armenian Apostolic Church - explanation [armenianchurch.org]

That will give you a taste of all the different Rites and the Traditions within each. Nothing comes close to actually attending and participating in the Liturgy, but given the distances involved for you, it may be the best you can do.

Many years,

Neil

Unity and Michael,

Thanks for the kind words.

Two Lungs,

The two links you posted are also a wonderful visual presentation, I had forgotten about them. Thanks.

Mary Elizabeth,

You might also want to take a look at

SpasiHospodi Site [homestead.com]

It is an extremely well-done site with great examples of Liturgical Music from a number of the Eastern Catholic Churches (several of the Liturgy sites above are linked from it as well). Recently, he also added some midi files on traditional Roman Rite music.

It is a bit slow to load if you're using a dial-up modem; be patient, it's worth it.

Many years,

Neil

My Dearest Neil!

Why do you give such jewels to me, the old sea-hag? I want this kind of ceremonial, this kind of awe at Christ's Real Presence in my parish, but all I get is the tyrany of extra-ordinary eucharistic ministers and a sloppily dressed priest.

Bah!

How old are you Neil? Are you married? I have a twenty-four year-old sister, beautiful and a nineteen year-old daughter who bares not the slightest resemblance to me, the sea-hag...

good night precious,

your links made a sea-hag smile.

Very and very biggrin . With children both older than your sister eek and younger than the one who craved graham crackers from you a few nights ago  .

Glad you enjoyed the links.
