A new, national, ecumencial group is forming with the provisional name of "Christian Churches Together in the USA". Unlike the National Council of Churches, which includes Mainline Protestant and Canonical Orthodox churhces, this new body will also include the Catholic Church, as well as increased participation from Evangelical groups and African-American Protestant denominations.
OCA and other members of the NCC have long expressed regret that they do not have the opportunity to be together with Catholics in the NCCC. This will provide another opportunity for Orthodox, Protestants and Catholics to work and pray together.
Christian Churches Together look to:
Engaging in common prayer Speaking to society with a common voice Promoting the common good of society Fostering faithful evangelism Seeking reconciliation by affirming our commonalities and understanding our differences Building a community of fellowship and mutual support
Founding denominations include:
Armenian Apostolic Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Orthodox Church in America Roman Catholic Church The Salvation Army American Baptist Churches Korean Presbyterian Church Christian Reformed Church in NA Evangelical Lutheran Church Episcopal Church Reformed Church in America Presbyterian Church in the USA Pentecostal-Charismatic Churches of NA Church of the Brethren Moravian Church in America United Methodist Church United Church of Christ Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) African Methodist Episcopal Church
Also assisting have been our own Orthodox friend, Ms. Elenie K. Huszagh, President, National Council of Churches and Rev. Ronald Sider of Evangelicals for Social Action, Rev. Jim Wallis of Sojourners/Call To Renewal

Is there anything on the net about this such as an official webpage? Also, I'm a bit confused by this part: "Engaging in common prayer," does this mean that there will be planned fellowships (ala Promise Keepers), or am I way off the mark?
He who can without strain keep vigil, be long-suffering and pray is manifestly a partaker of the Holy Spirit. But he who feels strain while doing these things, yet willingly endures it, also quickly receives help. - Mark the Monk

It is good to know that the Protestant Churches that participate in the Ecumenical group are serious Churches. (and at least the Mormons and the JW's are not there )
