Since the Annunciation of the Mother of God falls in the week following the Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross, are both the cross and the icon of the Annunciation both placed on the tetrapod, or is there some other arrangement?

Is it proper to venerate the cross with prostrations on the feast day?

Ed,
From the Vesper/Liturgy we have received in Parma (Ruthenian)the Trisagion is to be sung in its normal place instead of we bow to your cross. I would believe that the Annunciation icon should be displayed alone on the tetrapod. Then again I could be totally wrong.

Ed, both the decorated Cross and the icon of the Annunciation can be placed on the tetrapod for veneration (if your tetrapod is large enough). There is actually quite a "connection" between the two feasts as the fruit and glory of the Theotokos' "fiat" is placed before us right next to her icon.

But the propers at the Divine Liturgy should be only those of the Annunciation, and not any of the Cross. The liturgical colors are bright and not dark.

Since the Annunciation falls on a Tuesday on the New Calendar this year the proper order on the feast day is Great Vespers followed by the Liturgy of St. John Chrysystom.
