I thought you'd like to see a picture of what happens at the homily at our parish, where there are wide open spaces, and the kids are free to roam.

EDIT: I suppose I should have posted this under Parish Life. Mea culpa.

It's Annunciation in Homer Glen, IL. [byzantinecatholic.com] The little blond girl on the right in the back is my Sarah, almost 3.

The picture was taken today--I have a new camera, and apparently have the date set wrong. :-)

You are Lucky! A beautiful Church with no Pews and a nice daughter, you've got it made. You should join are Byzantine Village in "Town Hall." (After saying many prayers of thanksgiving.)

P.S. Happy early Feast of the Annunciation on the True Calendar and Happy late Feast of the Annunciation on the Protestant/Roman Calendar. I hope you celebrate your Church's Feast magnificently!

P.S. Just how good does a Church without Pews smell? wink

Thanks for the pics. I thought there were still some pews left at Annunciation or some were put back in? At St. Luke's in Kansas City most were taken out except a few in the back.

Here's a wonderful pewless gem: http://www.saintelias.com/ca/index.php

I could not help but thing the Church looked like Mosque from the outside. The inside is nice but the pews could go.

Slava Isisu Christu!
Slava I Na Viki!

The pews are necessary for our elderly parishioners and our expectant mothers, Praise God! The outside of our church will not 'look like a mosque' for long. Our pastor has written all of the iconography on the inside of our church sans the iconostasis. He is hard at work at writing icons on the outside.

There is traditional arrangment of seating for those who need it for what ever reason. Those seats are so Protestant. People should be able to move around in a Byzantine Church. Next time there is parish BBQ... wink

The iconography is truly beautiful.

Dear Pavel,

The Church doesn't look like a mosque, mosques look like Byzantine churches. They're copycats.

Pseudo-Athanasius,

You should bring your camera every Sunday. While you are at it perhaps you can show me how a digital camera works. (I got one for Christmas) Usually we have many more children than this. I've counted as many as 40 on some Sundays.

There is no place for them in a Byzantine Church. It's legacy of the old days when all things RC was 'more Catholic'. It will take time for BCs to take back their culture, understand it and be proud of it, after being 2nd and 3rd class Catholics for so long.
