Hi< I'm new to your Forum and if someone out there ever visits Anchorage, Alaska and are Catholic, look me up as I'm retired andwould be happy to show you around. I will ber out ofthe area from Sep17-Oct 14. St Nicholas has the only internally illuminated dome(above the church) in the world.We have three domes (two lit) above the church, Artim Hall, and garage.

Greeting to all, down there in the Lower 48, where its hot & humid. This is the peerfect weather up here. Yes, we have a pastor by the name of Fr. ACatholic church serving the Christian Faithful in the State of Alaska, According to the Traditions of the Byzantine Catholic Church in Communion with the Bishop of Rome.
The only Byzantine Catholic Church north of Seattle, Washington.

Joe, this is a great undertaking. I started something similar for the Ruthenery a few years ago, but -- as with you -- other things took higher priority.
I anxiously await this graphic representation. (Hey, I'm visual. What can I say?!?!?)

How big is your parish? What language or languages do you use during the liturgy? What cultural groups are associated with the parish?
Is there a folclore group of some kind? Is there a choir?

Ipreima -- #1310 Hi Laura. St Nicholas was founded in 1957. At present we have about 50 families(120 people or so). We use the English language in our Liturgy. We are an American church with various ethnic backgrounds, and our parish community is open to any Catholic and to anyone. If this the type of spiritual home that a person would seek, all on has to do is see the pastor. We don't have any Forklore Groups. Some churches have choirs, but our church does not. We have Cantor's; which are better than a choir, as everyone can sing and participate in the glorious Divine Liturgy and our people love to sing. We use a special Liturgicon prepared by or pastor, which has Liturgies of the whole year, propers, prayers before and after the Liturgy, and other items of Liturgical importance.

Cantor Joe Thur # 1103 Hi There Cantor Joe, Regarding your reference to Antiochian Orthodox. Up here in Anchorage, Ak. area we have two of these churches: 1. St. John 's outside of Eagle River, Ak (like a bedroom community of Anchorage) and a newer one , All Saints in Homer, Ak(about a 6 hr drive from Anchorage). I just thought you would like to know, in case you were unaware of it. Exactly what are Byzantine High Mass books? Are they out of print green pew books?
