Some of you know me from coming here some months ago. Well, I've been lurking since. I am here again for help. I recently moved to the Southside
in Pittsburgh, and have been to St John the Baptist. I love it! My question: I myself donm't mind my older brethern and sisters....I would like to find a larger congregation for the kids
ages 6 and 3....Any thoughts? I know there is a
parish on Brownsville Rd and one fairly large in Munhall... Alex, glad you stayed! Brother John,
I was pleased to read your warm words.
Peace, Secco

Pittsburgh has many parishes that do not have many children and that is a fact of life in the steel city. St. John's in South Side has much to offer and even though it may not have a large body of kids, there is much promise for the future...three baptisms in two months!
At St. John's there is also an "alumni" association of sorts...many people with ties to the church...an extended family of sorts. Also note that up until 2 years ago, there had been no catechetical program (for 5 years)...now there is one with 6 kids...
just a begining.
God bless your search!

If you are looking for a parish with a lot of family, i.e. children you might try Holy Ghost parish in the bottoms of McKees Rocks. Besides having a lot of families, it has one of the liveliest Divine Liturgies in the Pittsburgh area. They used to broadcast the liturgy every Sunday on WEDO at 9 AM smile

Its good to hear from both of you! I's like my oldest maybe to be that "seventh" kid....
I also don't mind being with older folk....
its like having a lot of extra parents and
grandparents. I've gone to St. John's and every
time people are welcoming to me....even helping me
remember when to stand!...Ha-ha...The Rocks....
has a nice community..a sister in the Lord
and friend of my family actually is from there and
was my first contact...Thanks! Secco biggrin
