Anthony Dragani (well known among us at this forum) is going to give a talk on evangelization in the Byzantine Catholic Parish. (Some of you may have read his wonderful paper on this topic?)

He will speak in the parish Center, after the Sunday morning Divine Liturgy (9 a.m.) on May 19th. All are welcome!

For directions to Saint George, Aliquippa, check the web site, hosted by this forum...

Fr. Elias,

Will there be a tape made of this talk, or a transcript?

Dear Brother,

Not planned at this time... but a good idea. Have you read Anthony Dragani's Article?

I think the talk will be an amplification of some of those ideas?

Where can I get hold of the article, and have you made any tapes yet?

Dear Hieromonk Elias,

Do you have any information of the Bethany Program, I believe that was the name which was used for evangelization?

Thanks,
Rose

Dear Friends,

During the WYD week here, I came across a number of Catholic "Evangelical" groups, if I may use that term, who distribute literature to people door to door like Jehovah's Witnesses et al.

They also stand on street corners.

When I approached one of their tables, they went right to work on me to try and convert me.

I couldn't say no and offend their zeal!

After about 20 minutes I told them that I give up and would reaffirm my faith . . .

I'd love to read the paper! Where can I get a copy? On another note, evangilization seems to be viewed pejoratively in our church. Our priest seems to believe that we need to see the "Metanoia" of our current parishoners and that this transformation will effect an evangilizing as an accidental or natural result of this change of heart. To gain more people who are luke warm is far worse than to have a small parish with devoute believers. I tend to agree with him.

Athanasius,

Do a search for " Evangelization Ideas " dated 4/29/02. Good Luck!

I hope that many of you find it to be very useful. I have devoted a significant amount of time to researching it.

Rose,
Thanks for the address. I printed it out for our priest. It is a pretty good article.
