Pyrhoy are a staple in certain areas of the Northeast...
They really aren't hard to make, grab a recipe online (there are a zagillion) and go to town! In true Slav style you have to make sure they're cooked in way too much butter and have the onions chopped up real fine. Oh, and if you've never eaten a fried Pyrohy, I suggest it, they're AMAZING.
Now, do you want those as Pyrohy of the True Faith, Byzantine Pyrohy, or Orthodox Pyrohy. That's an inside joke here on town hall, I'm sure someone will explain.
But seriously there are even fasting period pyrohi recipes, so you can enjoy them all year 'round.
You can put jalapeno cheese in them-
Jalapeno cheese pierogies were probably the way most rural Pennsylvanians and New Yorkers were introduced to Mexican style flavor..
You can put sauerkraut in them.. hey put pork and sauerkraut in them and you have a New Year's dinner in one tiny little package!
Ok, I'm done for now, ... I've never had sweet potato pierogies.
This time, I'm done for real.
Another suggestion is moving to PA, NY, MD, CT, where you'll always be near an Eastern Christian Church that has frequent pyrohy sales. I could add OH, but it's too far from a saltwater beach.
