Blest Feast of the Annunciation!

Thank you all for your comments!

I barely opened my mouth on the subject with my ECC Fr Deacon when he said to bring the blest oils in to burn in our lamps. I also checked which my canon law teacher at the chancery to make sure I wasn't suggesting anything with which he saw any concern.

After the dust of Pascha settles I am going to bring it up with my Latin parish Liturgy Coordinator and priest. I'm not hugely optimistic, but with your prayers perhaps an opening might occur.

I very much love the Chrism Mass in part because it does include the renewal of vows for our clergy, which as several of you mentioned is the reason it is moved, to not conflict with the parish liturgies on Holy Thursday.

Sadly none of our parish candidates or catecheumens came to the Chrism Mass this year but one of the folks who was received into the Church a couple of months ago was my partner bringing our parish oils and volunteered with the arrangements at the Cathedral. The Chrism Mass is one of the best kept secrets of the Church, as are ordinations, which I also try to publicize and encourage people to attend.

(Re the other topic mentioned here my Latin church has no sacrarium frown )

I also love the Chrism Mass, although it has been a few years since I have been able to attend one. Kids and Church in the evenings don't mix so well...

Once again I am compelled to observe that this thread about the Chrism Mass is entirely out of place on the BYZANTINE Forum. Please, brothers, are there not enough Latin sites out there for you to discuss these matters!

From the Home Page of the Byzantine Forum, I quote,

"The Byzantine Forum provides message boards for discussions focusing on Eastern Christianity (though discussions of other topics are welcome)."

The bold is my emphasis added.

The topic was the appropriateness of burning of "old" Holy oils in order to dispose of them. Sorry if there was some straying from that.
